History
1860s
The founder of the company, Komatsu Sohei, a low-ranking samurai of the Tosa domain, took the opportunity of the end of the samurai society to study under a swordsmith in Sakai, Senshu (currently in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture), where he learned the Sogitaki school of heat treatment, which is said to be the lifeblood of fishing hooks).
Starting with making river fishing hooks of about 3mm in size for fishing for sweetfish, etc., the company has continued to make hooks for coastal fishermen, deep-sea fishing hooks, and the four-waisted hooks that are characteristic of Komatsu Keisaku Shokai to this day.
*This is still Komatsu Keisaku Shokai's greatest feature.
1925s–1965s
During the period of rapid economic growth, the fishing hook manufacturing industry, which had been carried out by hand, became mechanized and mass-produced.
The third and fourth generation Komatsu wondered if it was possible to mechanize the manufacturing of fishing hooks, which was previously done entirely by hand, and began researching and creating machines for each process from scratch.
*It is not just mass production, but production that replaces manual work.
The wire cutting and punching machine was completed, and the number of items produced per day increased significantly.
With the development of deep-sea fishing in Japan, it has attracted much attention as a fishing hook that produces good catches.
1985 (Komatsu Keisaku Shokai Co., Ltd. established)
Expanded the factory and introduced manufacturing machinery and other equipment to increase production.
They are known as a manufacturer that makes everything from hooks specifically for tuna pole-and-line fishing to hooks ideal for longline fishing.
As word spread in Japan, orders began to increase from overseas.
